Michael’s latest offering HEAD IN THE CEILING FAN is a grimy Riso print walkthrough of the Melbourne photographers day to day. Jam packed with sweaty punks, night crawling reprobates and the pretty girls that put up with them. “Head in the ceiling fan” comes with a stack of extras and is served hot in a hand screened pizza box, get yourself a slice before they go cold.
Michael Also has a solo show coming up on the 30th of Oct at Sydney’s Tate Gallery. Click HEREand read the below for more details.
From delivering DIY zines in pizza boxes to taking the portraits of some of the world’s most mysterious luminaries, Michael Danischewski’s work spans across all media. Be it digital, video, print magazine and film, few photographers capture the spirit of a subterranean moment quite as well as the Melbourne based artist, who began shooting at punk gigs. Now working with clients as diverse as Lee Jeans and The Operatives, graffiti artists and musicians and collaborating with multidisciplinary crew Studio615, Michael’s underground aesthetic, curious eye and dexterous expertise has lead him to become one of Australia’s most coveted photographers.
Regularly armed with a Contax T3, a free spirit and a pocket full of film, Danischewski explores the underbelly of the cities he visits, capturing not only their subcultural movements, but also those individuals who are breaking new ground.
A nice little write up from the crew at the heavy collective about the upcoming show in Sydney and the most recent zine I put out
I recently produced a short video for a clothing collaboration between “the Bowery” and “Lee Jeans Australia”. The video entitled “the cruel hand of creation” is now available to be viewed and the clothing featured will be online and I stores across the country very shortly. I hope you enjoy and thanks to those who helped this project come to life. http://youtu.be/ZokzTuQRK50
